This guide will help you prepare for your appointment at Studio Balayage Michigan, serving clients in Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Troy, Royal Oak, and the greater Metro Detroit area.

To protect the integrity of your hair and achieve the most natural results, I follow a refined two-step approach for clients who need root-area correction or global color correction:

  1. Global Color Foundation

  2. Signature French Balayage Application

These appointments are performed separately to ensure your color lifts evenly, blends seamlessly, and ages beautifully.

I do not match or recreate color done by another salon, and I do not share formulas.

Before Your Appointment

To ensure the best possible result:

• Arrive with clean, dry hair (straightened or brushed smooth)
• Avoid heavy oils, leave-ins, or styling creams
• Bring 3–5 inspiration photos
• Wear a top with an open or loose neckline
• Expect 2.5–4 hours for balayage services

If You’re New and Need Color Correction

If you have brassiness, banding, uneven tones, or color build-up, you may begin with the Color Correction Signature Method before transitioning into the yearly balayage routine.

Color correction may take multiple sessions depending on your starting point. I’ll guide you step by step so you know exactly what to expect.

Maintaining Your Look

Between balayage appointments, you may schedule:

Color & Go — root refresh

I apply the root color, and you wash at home.
This keeps your blend seamless and reduces the need for future corrective work. This service is available only to clients who have received my balayage service.

Tonal Balancing Refresh

Applying the color where balayage lives. Designed to revive depth of the lost tonality, adding softness, and richness without placing new highlights.

Both services support the longevity of your Balayage. This service is available to clients who are on a balayage or color-correction plan with me.

About Haircuts

The Designed Haircut is a standalone appointment.
If you’re cutting more than 1½ inches, it should be done before your balayage session to ensure the placement blends naturally with your new shape.

This service includes a blow-dry and creates the ideal canvas for your balayage to flow, blend, and grow out beautifully.

Hair Health + Bond Support

Bond-building technology is included in all blonding services to protect and strengthen your hair during the lightening process.

Consultation

A consultation may be required to determine the best approach for your hair goals.
This ensures we choose the right method, tone, and long-term plan for your color journey.

Patch + Strand Testing

Patch or strand testing may be recommended to ensure your hair responds safely and predictably to color.

Photo + Media Consent

Your hair may be documented for portfolio or educational purposes.
If you prefer not to be photographed, simply let me know at your appointment — your preference will always be respected.
